Dr. Katta has authored five textbooks on medical school success. These books are recommended or required reading at over 1/3 of U.S. medical schools.

Kirkus Reviews, one of the country's most renowned and respected book reviewers, wrote that the book The Medical School Interview: Winning Strategies from Admissions Faculty, is “likely to be found indispensable by readers embarking on the arduous process of applying to medical school.

Success in Medical School: Insider Advice for the Preclinical Years provides detailed advice to ease the transition Into medical school. Medical School Success wrote that the "book has so much information about everything (except for preclinical courses) that there has to be a part of the book that will satisfy your interests."

Success on the Wards provides detailed advice on how medical students can provide optimal patient care during clinical rotations. A review in the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) journal, the New Physician (September 2012), stated "I strongly recommend this book. It should be a must-read for any motivated student doctor.

The Successful Match: 200 Rules to Succeed in the Residency Match has been listed as Suggested Reading in the AAMC Careers in Medicine Student Guide [published by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)].
